Ms McDougall is an accomplished surgeon with extensive expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and open gynecological procedures. She provides comprehensive, holisitic care for a variety of benign gynecological conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometrial polyps, menstrual disorders,  heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, menopause management, contraception and fertility assessments.

Endometriosis:

The presence of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus occurs in approximately 10% of the population with common symptoms of pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during intercourse and sub fertility. Ms McDougall has a wealth experience in diagnosing and managing endometriosis and is actively involved in endometriosis research including the multi-centre trials ESPRIT, REGAL, AMY 109. Laparoscopic and robotic assisted laparoscopy – including management of endometriosis, investigation for pelvic pain, tubal latency assessment (dye test), ovarian cyst management, sterilisation, hysterectomy. Ms McDougall is experienced in both standard laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy using the DaVinci Xi Surgical system.

Hysteroscopy – including investigation of abnormal bleeding, removal of endometrial polyps, trans-cervical resection of fibroids (TCRF), investigation of subfertility and recurrent miscarriage, endometrial ablation for management of heavy menstrual bleeding. 

Fibroids:

Fibroids are common benign growths in the uterus that can cause symptoms such as heavy/abnormal menstrual bleeding, pressure and pain. Ms McDougall is experienced in management of fibroids including hysteroscopic, laparoscopic and open surgical techniques and has published and presented at national and international conferences on fibroid management.

Ms McDougall has completed the British Menopause Society (BMS) Management of the Menopause certification and has experience of counselling women in a range of management options including hormonal (HRT) and non-hormonal options.
